
About Lisa
Lisa Brockwell was born and raised in Sydney, Australia and now lives in Kirriemuir, Scotland. Her poems have been published in Bad Lilies, The Canberra Times, Meanjin, The Weekend Australian, Best Australian Poems and The Spectator. Her first book, Earth Girls (Pitt Street Poetry, 2016) was commended in the Anne Elder Award and her second book The Round Ring (Pitt Street Poetry) was published in 2021. In Australia, she has received commissions by Red Room Poetry, was poet in residence at Byron Writers’ Festival, and recently collaborated with composer Andrew Ford (The Music Show, ABC Radio National) for his Red Dirt Hymns song cycle She has worked as a communications consultant in the HIV/AIDS community sector and for the pharmaceutical industry. She currently manages an agency working in health psychology, social research and health literacy, primarily in women’s health and patient advocacy. She is working on a family memoir about the changing cultural significance of Australia’s foundation as a British penal colony.
